How do templates work?
A template sets your store's colours, fonts, button style, card layout and the shape of the top of the page. Choose one with "Use this template" and your new store starts in that look. Your products, links and words stay the same whichever template you pick, so changing your mind later costs nothing.
Once your store is set up, the Design tab in the editor lets you change any part of a template: swap the accent colour for your brand colour, choose a different font pairing, add a background photo or switch cards from a list to a grid. Every change shows in the live preview before you save it.
Will my text be easy to read?
Yes. Every template passes a contrast check before it ships, and the same check runs on every change you make. If a colour you pick would make text hard to read, the editor warns you, and wherever text would struggle against the background the store adds a solid panel behind your words.
That matters most on a phone in bright sunlight, where low-contrast text simply disappears. You can be as bold as you like with colour and still trust that your prices and buttons are legible.
Choosing the right look
Start with the feeling you want a first-time visitor to have. Calm and trustworthy points to Matcha, Earthy Wellness or Clean Mono. Bold and energetic points to Midnight, Neon Glow or Brutalist. Playful points to Candy, Sticker Pop or Y2K Chrome, and premium points to Luxe Noir or Warm Editorial.
Then look at your covers and photos. Busy, colourful artwork usually looks best on a quiet template, while simple covers can carry a louder one. If you are unsure, pick the template whose example store looks most like yours and adjust from there.
