Selling tools that raise the value of every visit

Traffic from a bio link is precious: a post sends a burst of visitors, then it fades. These four tools help more of those visitors buy, and help each buyer spend a little more, without discounting everything all the time. Each is in every plan and set up from your dashboard in a minute or two.

How do discount codes work?

You create a code in Discounts, choose a percentage or a fixed amount off, and share it. Buyers type it at checkout and the price drops before they pay. A code can end on a date, stop after a number of uses, start later, or work on chosen products only. Switch it off at any time.

The settings, as they appear in your dashboard:

  • Code: 2 to 40 characters, using letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. Buyers can type it in any case; LAUNCH20 and launch20 both work.
  • Amount: a whole percentage from 1 to 100, or a fixed amount such as £5.
  • Products: all products, or only the ones you tick.
  • Use limit: for example, the first 50 orders.
  • Start and end: schedule a weekend sale in advance.

The discount applies to the main product, not to an add-on, and the code name shows on the Stripe payment line so the buyer can see why it costs less. A 100% code makes the order free: no card is asked for and the file is delivered as normal.

Landed my first paid deal two weeks after finishing the pitch module. The community is so supportive.

  • Priya

Sent the second template word for word and got a yes the same afternoon.

When should I use a discount code?

Use codes for moments, not as a permanent price. A code that is always available stops meaning anything, and buyers learn to wait for it before paying. Tie each code to a reason fans understand, such as a launch, a thank-you or a live session, and give it a clear end. Three patterns that work well from a bio link:

  1. Launch week: LAUNCH20 for 20% off, ending seven days after release. On a £25 product the launch price is £20.
  2. Thank-you code: a fixed £5 off for people who claimed your free lead magnet, with a use limit of 100, mentioned in your follow-up post.
  3. Live or story code: a one-word code said on a livestream, limited to 30 uses and ending at midnight, so the urgency is real.

Each code shows how many times it has been used, so you can see which post or video actually sold.

What is an order bump?

An order bump is a second product offered as a tick box at checkout, right before payment. On stall.bio you pick another of your downloads and, if you want, a lower bump price. Buyers who tick it get both files on the same receipt and access page, in one payment.

Bumps work because the decision is small and the buyer already has their card out. Good bumps are cheap compared with the main product and obviously related to it:

  • Lightroom presets at £24, bump: the matching mobile presets for £7.
  • A meal-plan ebook at £15, bump: the printable shopping lists for £4.
  • A sample pack at £18, bump: the project files for £9.

Leave the bump price blank to charge the add-on's normal price, or set it to zero to include it as a free extra. Order bumps work on paid downloads.

How do the "was" price and countdown work?

Give a product a "was" price higher than its price and the page shows the old price struck through with a "Save" label, such as "Save £10". Add an offer end date and a live countdown appears: "Offer ends in 2d 14:03:27". Both make a time-limited offer clear at a glance.

The countdown is a promise, so keep it. When the timer reaches zero it disappears, but the price does not change by itself: set a reminder to edit the price and remove the "was" price when the offer ends. A countdown that resets every week is easy to spot and costs you trust. One real offer a quarter beats a permanent fake one.

Can I show reviews on a product?

Yes. Add quotes from real buyers in the product editor, each with a name of up to 60 characters, a rating from 1 to 5 stars and up to 500 characters of text. They appear in a "Testimonials" row on the product page, in your order, and the average rating shows on the product card.

Ask for reviews a week after purchase, when buyers have used the product. A short DM works: "Did the presets work for you? Could I quote you on the page?" Only add words people actually sent you, keep their spelling, and ask permission to use their name. Specific reviews sell better than praise: "Edited a whole wedding in an evening" beats "Love it!".

Questions, answered

Can a buyer use two codes on one order?

No. One code applies per order, and it takes its amount off the main product. To try a different code, the buyer removes the first one. This keeps the maths simple for buyers and stops codes stacking into a much bigger discount than you planned to give.

What happens when a code runs out?

Buyers who try it see a plain message, such as "That code has been used up" or "That code isn’t active", and can still buy at the full price. A use is counted when the order is paid; an unpaid checkout holds its place for 30 minutes and then releases it.

Can I offer a bump on a free product?

No. Bumps appear at checkout, so they go on paid downloads. To follow a free lead magnet with a paid offer, mention the paid product in the lead magnet itself, and consider a thank-you discount code for people who claimed it.
